“I worked with Ryan for two years designing the interfaces for Local Line... as the sole designer at our company, he exceeded every expectation. Ryan is thoughtful, patient, coachable, and hard working. He was a great team player who was dedicated to our mission. I definitely recommend working with Ryan if you have the chance!”

“It’s not every day that you meet a designer as passionate and dedicated as Ryan. Ryan joined Focus21 as a UX intern from September through the end of 2018, and during that time I had the pleasure of working with and mentoring him. Ryan quickly integrated into our team’s processes and was creating high quality UI designs and prototypes in no time, working directly with designers and developers. His creativity shone through in his ability to use illustrations and tone to communicate to users and add personality to the product. Moreover, I was impressed with his passion for learning and putting ideas into practice, such as when he independently organized and conducted a card sorting study with users. Ryan would make a great addition to any UX or product team and I give him my full recommendation.”

MY MISSION

Make lives easier through the
crafting of digital tools.

I’m deeply fascinated by what moves people. Through people-centric experience design, I aim to craft effective tools, beautiful interfaces, and rich experiences that enable people to sail through life's waters.

MY PROCESS

Trust the Process.

An iterative and insight driven design process, aiming to deliver products people love using.

1. Scout

Seek to understand the problem. What problem are we trying to solve, and what goals are we trying to reach? For whom?

2. Plan

Take insights from the Scout phase to inform design flows, interfaces, and architecture.

3. Execute

Facilitate well-communicated hand off, and work harmoniously with others to build the plan.

4. Revisit & Revise

Monitor and measure performance, and continually refine, polish, or re-strategize. Design is never done.

MY INTERESTS

Get to know Ryan.

Team chemistry goes a long way, and I believe knowing someone outside of their work is key to that!

I'm a die-hard Raptors fan, and ball is life.

Basketball was my sport growing up, and the Toronto Raptors are my team. Catch me these days playing in a community rec league, online managing my fantasy roster, or trading NBA Top Shot NFT's.

Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors.
Scotiabank Arena, Toronto

I'm an avid music listener.

Building an iTunes library since elementary, music has always been something I loved. Excited for concerts to be a thing again, the next show I'm seeing is the Kaytranada show in Toronto! Here's some tunes in my current rotation:

'Claymore'
by Isaiah Rashad
'Mountains'
by Charlotte Day Wilson
'I'm so Blessed You're Mine'
by James Blake

I love to travel.

I'm happy that the world is starting to open back up again. In 2022, I have plans on visiting the following destinations:

Scottsdale, Arizona for some golfing and hikes.
Las Vegas, Nevada for a close friend's bachelor party.
Cape Town, South Africa for a wedding.

I'm forever learning.

I'm so excited to continue adding new skills and expertise to my design repertoire. Here's a few things on my list that I'm looking to brush up on or am currently reading:

Front End Engineering
Lottie Animations
Product Psychology
Course by
growth.design
Atomic Habits
book by James Clear

Find Your F* Yeah
book by Alexis Rockley
